DO PEOPLE FALL OUT OF THE RAFT?
Yes, it is possible to fall out of the raft when there is an impact bumping against the rocks or with other causes. Your helmet protects your head, and the lifejacket prevents from drawing. We use reliable floaty life jackets designed for extreme water activities. We carefully maintain gears to protect our guests safety.
WHAT SIZE ARE THE RAFTS?
We use rafts that are 4 meters in length and 2 meters in width for 8 rafters, specifically designed for whitewater use. We also have bigger rafts for 10 rafters as well. Those rafts are made with tough material, hyperon rubber which is rarely break.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE FROM OTHER COMPANIES?
  1. Easy Access – It takes only 4 minutes from both JR Umahori station and Tram Kameoka station by walk.
  2. Beautiful View – You will see a beautiful scenery of rice fields from our rafting base site. After rafting, you can relax and feel the nature at the site. We also have optional BBQ plans for you to enjoy BBQ & beautiful scenery on well-maintained lawn.
  3. Experienced Staffs – Our staffs are all well experienced and expert on Hozu River not from other countries or regions.
HOW MUCH IS THE RAFTING TOUR?
Our Hozu River Half Day Rafting Tour price is \6,000 yen in low season(April, May, June, October, and November), and \6,500 yen for high season(July, August, and September).
We also have several discounts depending on the reservation type, please let us know if you are applicable for those discounts when you make a reservation. Ex. Online reservation from our website is \500 yen off/person. For group rates (5 or more) is \200 yen off/person. Weekday tour is \200 yen off/person. And repeat customer gets \300 yen additional discounts. If you are all applicable with all conditions, you may get \1,200 yen off total.
HOW LONG IS THE RAFTING TOUR?
Hozu River Half dDy Rafting Tour is 6 kilometers long. It will take about 2 hours to run the river. In the tour you will have a chance to rock jump or float at still stream in the river. Plan to spend about 3.5 hours total with us for the tour. Depending the river conditions, it may take less or more time, so please allow enough time when you plan your day.
IS THERE A PARKING?
Nearest parking is available at Tram Kameoka Station and costs about \500 yen. There is also a parking near JR Umahori Station. Both parkings are 4 minutes away (about 100 meters) from our rafting base site.
IS IT TOUGH ACTIVITITY?
Whitewater rafting is fun and thrilling activity which beginners can also enjoy. During the tour there are activities you can join such as rock jump and float on slow stream. After rafting you may get physical fatigue just like you swim in the pool or ocean. Please drink enough water to stay hydrated and use restroom before the tour.
IS THERE A HOT SPRING NEAR BY?
Yes, there are hot spring you can visit by trains or cars after rafting. Please check “hot springs near by” for details.
IS THERE A MINUMUM AGE?
Minimum age is 13 years old (7th grade) for rafting tour, or if accompanied by the parents it is 9 years old (3rd grade). We have children life jackets fit for them.
CAN I PARTICIPATE WITH A PHYSICAL DISABILITY?

WHAT IF IT RAINS?
Tours run on both rainy day or sunny day. Rafting is a perfect rainy day activity it gets more exciting with higher water level. But in case of the typhoon or heavy rain if we see it could be dangerous to run the tour, we will cancel the tour.
WHEN DO WE KNOW IF THE TOUR IS CANCELLED?
If we see river condition is dangerous for rafting, we will cancel the tours to secure guests safety. Though we try to inform cancelation 2.5 hours prior to meeting time of the tour, if river condition changes in short time, tour may be cancelled after guests arrival. For those tours Tomsawyer decided to cancell, paid fee will be pay back to the group representative in their bank account, but not the transportation expenses.
