Tomsawyer Adventures hosts Kyoto Hozu River Rafting Tour, in Kyoto. We welcome all guests, from first time beginners to experienced rafting enthusiasts! The rafting tour fee includes the guide service fee, life jacket rental (personal floating device, PFD), wetsuit, helmet, and paddle. Everything you need is included in the package! Visiting Kyoto alone, or with family and friends? Join us! In the summer, we often get higher water-levels, making rafting even more thrilling and exciting. Meet atTomSaywer's Hozu River Base Site
From Kyoto Station, it only takes about 30 minutes. Our base site is very close to both JR Umahori Station and Tram Kameoka Station, about 200 meters away. See Map
When you arrive, please check in. After checking-in, you will change into rafting gear in the changing room, and walk three minutes to the starting point aside the Hozu River. There is a restroom available at our rafting base site, we suggest using it before changing into the rafting gear.

PLEASE COME ON TIME, do not be late. Especially on weekends and in holiday seasons, traffic gets very heavy in Kyoto, so please give yourself enough time for transportation.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONSFor the most exciting rafting experience, before going into the river, the staff will provide paddle training and safety instructions.

RAFTING ADVENTURE STARTS!There are about 20 rapids of various sizes in the Kyoto Hozu River rafting course. Rough rapids, such as Koayu-no-taki and Ohtakase are waiting for you!

There is also a still stream area where you can float and swim, or rock jump into the river.This activity is optional and may be skipped if you prefer.

Reaching a Goal!You will take a train back to our rafting base and change your clothes at the base. It is one stop, 4 minutes ride from JR Hozukyo station to JR Umahori Station.

BBQ Pack Plan
Tomsawyer staff will provide food and charcoal for BBQ, as well as clean-up services. All you need to do is to have fun, grill & eat! (Drinks are not included, please bring your own.)

BBQ Site Rental
For those outdoor masters, we have a plan for you. You can bring your own Dutch ovens and enjoy cooking. This plan includes the BBQ site, chairs/table with sunshade, hand washing water, BBQ grill, and free rental bicycle for grocery shopping and restroom at the site. It does not include charcoal, plates, silverwares, BBQ tongs, or others expendable items.
